🎨 Theme

confirm-sphinx inherits from Furo. It keeps Furo’s layout, navigation, search and dark mode, and changes the look to match the corporate design of confirm IT.

What’s different from Furo

Fonts

Poppins for text, Roboto Mono for code, both loaded from Google Fonts. See Typography.

Colours

The confirm IT colour palette, loaded from https://assets.confirm.ch/colours.css. Every Furo colour variable is mapped to a palette variable (--cd-*), with a separate set for dark mode. See Colours.

Logos

The confirm IT logo, in a light and a dark variant, loaded from https://assets.confirm.ch/logo/. See Assets.

Release

The release is shown under the project name in the sidebar. With the confirm.sphinx extension, work-in-progress builds are marked with 🚧, see Todo visibility.

Typography

Fluid font sizes, which scale smoothly between a 400 px and an 1800 px wide viewport.

Layout

A wider content area (75rem) and a centred page on large screens. See Layout & grid.

Admonitions

Every admonition type has its own colour, in light and dark mode. See Admonitions in the showcase.

Options

The theme supports all Furo options. It changes these defaults:

Option

Default

Description

light_logo

dark_logo

https://assets.confirm.ch/logo/rgb-light.svg

source_branch

source_directory

docs/

Docs directory for Furo’s source links

Tip

Unlike in Furo, light_logo and dark_logo accept URLs as well as paths in your html_static_path.

Set options in your conf.py:

html_theme_options = {
    'sidebar_hide_name': True,
}

Note

When you use the confirm.sphinx extension, it merges the source links into your html_theme_options in CI builds. Set source_view_link or source_edit_link yourself to override them.

Assets

The theme loads these external assets on every page:

  • https://fonts.googleapis.com: The Poppins and Roboto Mono fonts

  • https://assets.confirm.ch/colours.css: The confirm IT colour palette

  • https://assets.confirm.ch/logo/: The confirm IT logos

  • https://assets.confirm.ch/icon-variants/: The confirm IT docs favicon (only as extension)

Important

Readers need access to both hosts, otherwise the docs fall back to system fonts and Furo’s colours, and the logos are missing.
